This Airport Worker’s Tarmac Dancing Is Giving Us Life

It seems airlines have been making headlines for all the wrong reasons lately, but one employee at Greater Rochester International Airport bucked the trend.

Rochester native Kyran Ashford danced his way to fame after a video of him showcasing his first-class moves on the tarmac went viral.

Ashford, who goes by the name Tarmac Dancer, works with Southwest Airlines through JetStream Ground Services, according to the Democrat & Chronicle. He doubles as a ramp agent, directing airplanes out of gates, and an operations agent who scans boarding passes.

A passenger recently took a video of Ashford on Friday, saying “So this just happened out my window as I was leaving New York headed back home to Nashville.”

The video has nearly 10 million views and has been shared over 100,000 times. (Watch below)

“I’m mind blown out of this whole thing,” Ashford told the Democrat & Chronicle. “I got no sleep last night, just watching all the reviews come in.”

This is not his first show on the job. Ashford has a YouTube channel with various videos of him performing in airport music halls.

“Everything I’ve been doing, that’s all a part of who I am,” Ashford told the Democrat & Chronicle. “My mother raised me to be the type of man to walk around with great character, and to never be ashamed of who they are.”

He says his goal is to give at least one person “30 seconds of positive vibes before you get on the plane.”

And people are definitely enjoying his vibes!
