The two paired up for a revised version of the track from Mars’ 2016 album 24K Magic and a video released late Wednesday night.
The video, directed by the Versace on the Floor singer and co-directed by Florent Dechard, draws inspiration from the ’90s sketch show In Living Color, created by Keenen Ivory Wayans.
There’s a little bit of gender-flipping going on as Mars dances on a roof like a Fly Girl (the In Living Color dance troupe where Jennifer Lopez started her career) and Cardi B flings paint at the camera like Wayans and his fellow up-and-comer castmates (including brother Marlon Wayans, Jamie Foxx and Jim Carrey) did in the show’s opening credits.
“This video is dedicated to one my favorite TV shows of all time,” Mars tweeted, adding, “Shout out to the people over at Fox Studios and a very special thank you to @keeneniwayans.”
The Bodak Yellow artist told her Twitter followers that she also enjoyed the shoot. “I had sooo much fun doing this video,” she tweeted. “It felt like a BBQ.”
